Distribution of ground-dwelling arthropods across landscapes with intensive agriculture in temperate areas

چکیده
The idea that land use in the surroundings may affect abundance of arthropods on a location plays an important role argument agriculture is prime cause recently discovered general decline insects. We studied ground-dwelling agricultural fields along gradient increasing distance from (semi)natural areas and relation to landscape complexity both North America (Illinois, USA) Europe (The Netherlands) using pitfalls. Our results showed total did not change with when we controlled for vegetation height around sample locations. Vegetation affected positively crop negatively grassland. Landscape only it was measured 6000 m radius location, at lower levels scale. conclude effect be expected done large enough

Comparison of pesticide residues in surface water and ground water of agriculture intensive areas
The organochlorines (OClPs) and organophosphates (OPPs) pesticides in surface and ground water having intensive agriculture activity were investigated to evaluate their potential pollution and risks on human health. As per USEPA 8081 B method, liquid-liquid extraction followed by Gas-Chromatographic technique with electron capture detector and mass selective detector (GC-MS) were used for monit...
متن کاملSurvey of Ground-Dwelling Predaceous and Parasitic Arthropods in Cabbage Fields in Upstate New York1
Environ.Entornol.12:1026-1030(1983) ABSTRACT During ]979 and 1981, populations of ground-dwelling predators and parasites in research and commercial cabbage fields in upstate NewYork were assessed by pitfall trapping tn determine species composition, abundance, phenology, and the impact of insecticides on them. Staphylinidae, Phalangida, Carabidae, and Araneida were consistently the most abunda...

Ecology of herbivorous arthropods in urban landscapes.
Urbanization affects communities of herbivorous arthropods and provides opportunities for dramatic changes in their abundance and richness. Underlying these changes are creation of impervious surfaces; variation in the density, diversity, and complexity of vegetation; and maintenance practices including pulsed inputs of fertilizers, water, and pesticides. A rich body of knowledge provides theor...
متن کاملUSE OF CWD IN FREqUENTly BURNED HaBITaTS By GROUND-DWEllING aRTHROpODS
INTRODUCTION Large dead wood or coarse woody debris (CWD) with a diameter >10 cm is an important resource for many arthropods and other animals that use it for food, oviposition sites, protection from environmental extremes, and foraging habitat (Elton 1966, Grove 2002b, Harmon and others 1986). Over 400 species of insects are known to use woody debris as a food resource in the Southeastern Uni...
